About us – Bookies Trust

Trust is the subject of Bookies Trust: how a reader can tell, from public information, whether a betting operator may lawfully serve customers in Great Britain and what protections go with that. The site takes no bets, sells no tips and promises no returns, because a bet certain to win does not exist.

The test used

The Gambling Commission’s public register decides. An operator holds a Great Britain operating licence or it does not, and the web address is no evidence either way, since licensed operators run on .com. A licence from Curaçao, Malta or Gibraltar does not stand in for it. When an operator works without a Great Britain licence, the site describes it that way, without a moral verdict but with the plain consequence: no GAMSTOP, no route to the Commission’s complaints process, and less protection for the customer. Northern Ireland has its own law and is outside the Gambling Act 2005.

What a ranking means

A position in a ranking or a comparison table is an editorial ordering. It is not a licence, not an endorsement and not an invitation to bet.

Sources

Statements about operators rest on their own terms, help pages and footers; statements about the law rest on statutes and on publications of the Gambling Commission and other public bodies. Prices and promotions shift quickly, so a figure carries the time and place where it applied. Where sources run out, the text says so in words rather than supplying a number.

Audience

The content is written for adults in Great Britain, because betting is open only from 18. It does not replace legal or tax advice. Anyone who feels betting is taking more room than planned can contact GamCare, GambleAware or GAMSTOP.
