Privacy policy – Bookies Trust
This policy meets the duty to inform in Article 13 of the UK GDPR. Bookies Trust publishes articles on trusted betting for readers in Great Britain and handles only the personal data an information site needs. The UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 are the rules that govern.
Rights of readers
Every person has the right of access (Article 15), rectification (Article 16), erasure (Article 17), restriction of processing (Article 18) and data portability (Article 20), and may object to processing based on legitimate interests (Article 21). An answer comes without undue delay and within one month of receipt, extendable by two further months under Article 12(3).
Controller
The controller under Article 4(7) UK GDPR is whoever runs Bookies Trust. Name, address and e-mail address are available at bookiestrustuk.com, which is also where questions about personal data are sent.
Data and purposes
Opening a page creates a server log entry with the IP address, date and time, requested address, volume of data, referring page and browser type. Logs serve security and the detection of abuse, and they are deleted or shortened after 90 days so that they no longer identify anyone. Someone who writes to the editors also gives a name, an e-mail address and the message itself, used only for the reply. No reader accounts exist and no bets or deposits are handled, so no payment details or identity documents are collected.
Legal bases
Server logs, abuse protection and answers to messages rest on legitimate interests in keeping the site working and secure (Article 6(1)(f) UK GDPR). Cookies beyond the strictly necessary, and audience measurement, rest on consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR together with regulation 6 of PECR) and start only after it is given; it may be withdrawn at any time without touching earlier processing (Article 7(3)). Nothing is decided automatically and no profiling takes place.
Who receives data
No data is sold. Processors working on the controller’s instructions provide hosting, content delivery and e-mail (Article 28 UK GDPR), and public authorities may receive data where the law requires. Data goes outside the United Kingdom only to a country with adequacy regulations or under safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum (Article 44 onwards).
How long data is kept
Logs are kept up to 90 days. Correspondence is kept until the matter is closed and as long as needed to meet possible claims. Supplying details in a message is voluntary, but without them no reply can be sent.
Complaints
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is the supervisory authority. Anyone who believes their data has been processed in breach of the law may complain to it (Article 77 UK GDPR).
